MISSION

Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity Pasadena brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

There is a great need for affordable, decent housing. Too many live in substandard housing lacking such essentials as plumbing. Conventional wisdom holds that a family should pay no more than 30 percent of its income on shelter, yet 250,000 Texas families pay half or more of household income for shelter.

How did the Pasadena Habitat For Humanity start?

In 1994 a group of concerned local citizens caught the Habitat sprit and established Pasadena Habitat For Humanity, Inc. as the local affiliate of Habitat. The name changed to Habitat for Humanity Pasadena (HfHP) in 2008 for Habitat International branding reasons.

HfHP strives to carry out the Habitat mission by providing homeownership opportunities for the people of Pasadena. As with all other Habitat affiliates in the United States, HfHP raises its own funding and solicits its own volunteer corps. Habitat International operates solely as a consultant and advisor for the U. S. national affiliates. Habitat teaches and supports an approach that involves developing partnerships between donors, labors, staff, new homeowners and other agencies that support community revitalization.
