The Albemarle Foundation presented a $100,000 check to Habitat for Humanity Pasadena on Thursday, August 25th for a new home to be built at 510 Bertloma, Pasadena, Texas 77504. These funds will go to build Habitat Pasadena’s 20th home. Albermarle Corporation employees from both Pasadena & Bayport plants will also volunteer at the worksite on Saturdays.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans
Habitat for Humanity Pasadena and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans recently completed and dedicated their 19th home in old Pasadena off Ann Street.
On November 14, 2010 volunteers, Habitat for Humanity representatives, Thrivent Financial representatives, members of the supporting Lutheran Churches, and, of course, the excited partner family gathered at the new home on Ann Street to honor the hard work, the generous financial backing and the community support that made this home possible. The brief program was led by Pastor Tart from Peace Lutheran, and followed by a few words from the local Thrivent Financial for Lutherans representatives, James Guthrie and Jerry Roth. The Rodriguez family—are more than a little eager to move into their new home. They have completed 300 hours of “sweat equity” helping to build the home, a basic tenet of Habitat for Humanity. They will repay the no-profit mortgage over a period of 20 years, illustrating Habitat for Humanity’s objective to give families a “hand up” rather than a “hand out.”
